Galvanic coating

Electroplating is a technological process used to coat the surface of an object with a thin layer of metal using an electric current. The main purpose of electroplating is to protect materials from corrosion, improve their appearance, increase hardness and wear resistance, or provide specific properties such as conductivity or decorative shine.

The process involves immersing the item to be coated in an electrolyte solution that contains ions of the desired metal (such as zinc, nickel, chrome, copper, silver, or gold). When electric current is applied, the metal ions in the solution are attracted to the surface of the object and deposit there, forming a smooth, even metal layer.

Electroplating is widely used in many industries including automotive, aerospace, electronics, jewelry, and machinery. For example, in the automotive industry, it is used to prevent rust and corrosion on car parts. In electronics, it ensures proper conductivity in components. In the jewelry industry, it enhances appearance and durability of decorative items.

The advantages of electroplating include increased lifespan of products, improved aesthetic appeal, reduced friction, and protection in aggressive environments. It remains one of the most effective surface treatment technologies in modern manufacturing.
