Boring works

Boring operations are a precision machining process used to enlarge or finish existing holes in a workpiece. This method is carried out on boring machines or boring mills, which allow for very accurate control of hole diameter, alignment, and surface finish.

Boring is commonly used when pre-drilled or cast holes need to be resized, aligned, or improved in quality. It is especially useful in the repair or manufacturing of parts such as engine blocks, gear housings, bushings, hydraulic cylinders, and other mechanical components where internal hole precision is critical.

There are various types of boring machines, including horizontal boring machines, vertical boring machines, jig boring machines, and CNC machining centers equipped for boring. Depending on the application, boring tools may include single-point boring bars, boring heads, or modular tool systems.

Advantages of boring:

  • Extremely precise control over hole dimensions;
  • Excellent roundness and surface quality;
  • Ability to restore worn parts to original tolerances;
  • Increased service life of components;
  • Suitable for both repair and new production.

Boring is widely used in automotive, aerospace, heavy equipment, energy, and manufacturing industries, where exact internal dimensions are critical for assembly, performance, and reliability.
