MIG welding

Semi-automatic welding (MIG/MAG) is one of the most widely used and efficient arc welding methods. It involves the automatic feeding of welding wire through a torch, while the welder manually controls the arc. MIG stands for Metal Inert Gas welding (e.g., using argon), and MAG stands for Metal Active Gas welding (e.g., using CO₂ or a CO₂/argon mix). This method is suitable for welding various metals including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.

The process uses a semi-automatic welding machine where the wire is fed continuously through the welding gun. Shielding gas protects the weld pool from oxygen and moisture, preventing oxidation and ensuring a clean, strong weld.

Advantages of MIG/MAG welding:

  • High welding speed and efficiency,
  • Minimal slag and spatter,
  • Stable arc and good penetration,
  • Suitable for both thin and thick materials,
  • Easy to learn and operate.

MIG/MAG welding is widely used in automotive repair, machinery manufacturing, metal structures, shipbuilding, and home projects. It is known for combining high quality with excellent productivity, making it one of the most popular welding methods globally.
